Position Title: Healthy Kids Healthy Preschool Coordinator (NMDOH)

Supervised by: HKHP Program Director

Position Summary: Responsible for the implementation of the Healthy Kids New Mexico’s program Healthy Kids Healthy Preschool (HKHP) initiative in Northern New Mexico. Extensive in-state travel required.

License Requirements: Valid NM Class D driver’s license required. Must maintain insurability with CAA insurance. Must be able to become a registered trainer in the New Mexico Kids Trainer Registry.

Education: Associates/bachelor’s degree in child development or related field/experience preferred

Experience: Prior work with early childhood education, child development, nutrition, social services, nonprofit, or healthy eating/active living programs. Experience working with tribal and rural communities.

Skills/Abilities: Self-starter. Ability to plan, organize, and conduct assessments of child development centers. Develop and conduct training and technical assistance to large and small groups. Knowledge of child development issues, policies and community issues; computer literacy, solid communication and reporting skills, ability to work with people from all backgrounds and bi/multilingual.

Job Description: Responsible for the recruitment, training, and assessment of licensed child development centers in support of the HKHP initiative in Northern New Mexico Counties. Conduct training workshops to reach licensed child development centers on specific tools to help implement increased opportunities for healthy eating and physical activities.  Provide ongoing technical assistance and oversight of the development of center policies relating to goals and activities established by CAASNM and HKHP program; formulates and reviews reporting logs; evaluates and recommends incorporation of current environments and programs around healthy eating and physical activities. Complete assessments and progress reports to meet overall program measurements and objectives. Conducts follow-up assessments, measure environmental changes and provides on-site technical assistance. Extensive travel including overnight stays to counties previously listed. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.  Position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing policy when mandated.
