Tres Manos
Tres Manos is an innovative weaving program and microenterprise of Community Action Agency of southern New Mexico in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The Tres Manos program began in 2002 under a grant funded by the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department to help women in the colonias of southern Dona Ana County to develop job skills, social skills and sustainable self-employment.
The women of Tres Manos create hand-woven garments and rag rugs of exceptional quality and intricacy that are sold at festivals and in the shop in San Miguel, NM. This initiative helps families of the colonias supplement their income, express their creativity and build both personal and business skills.
